Operation Backpack fills 500 for students

To the editor:

The Pettengill House Inc. would like to extend its thanks to the community for the incredible support we received for Operation Backpack, our annual backpack and school supplies collection drive. This annual initiative is part of Pettengill's School Link Service program, the goal of which is that all children come to school ready to learn. Through the generous donations we received from schools, businesses, organizations, faith communities, individuals and families, we were able to distribute more than 500 backpacks filled with school supplies (and continuing) to local children in need resulting in a seven-year total of 2,975 backpacks. This program will also extend throughout the school year for children in need moving into our community.
